ABOUT ME
I’m SJ, a 38 year old who felt burnt out and drained from work. My husband and I own a corndog food truck and catering company and with how busy we got, I never made time for myself. So when I broke down mentally, I knew I needed to set boundaries and find some passions to focus on. I started by going on a solo sunrise hike and was instantly reminded how much I love the outdoors and hiking. Now that I’ve felt the healing powers of being outdoors, I’m on a mission to keep showing up for myself, outside and to encourage others to go for a hike.
Hiking HIstory
I grew up on top of a mountain in Lincoln National Forest in New Mexico. I played outside as often as I could and would enjoy going on hikes with my family and leaving hidden messages with sticks hinting at things like ice cream.
Later in life once I moved to Colorado, I conquered 6 14er and explored Rocky Mountain National Park many times.
Now I live in Fort Collins, Colorado with a backyard full of hikes that I never used to take advantage of because I let work get in the way.
I’m so lucky to live in such a beautiful state with access to hikes everywhere. Each hike I go on, i’m filled with so much joy and gratitude that I get to experience the vast outdoors.
Grounding & wellness
In February of 2024, I got plantar fasciites. I tried everything under the sun to try and heal my foot but nothing seemed to help. I then learned about grounding (walking in the grass or ground barefoot). It completely changed my life!
After about a month of waking in the grass for 10 minutes a day, my plantar fasciities drastically improved. I’m now a firm believe in the healing powers from the earth.
